Carolyn J. Lawrence
Assistant Professor (Collaborator)
Research Description
Dr. Lawrence's group manages the operation of the Maize Genetics & Genomics Database (MaizeGDB) and has interest in functional aspects of maize chromosomes during cell division. The work at MaizeGDB is focused on creating data storage, access, and analysis solutions for information generated by the community of maize researchers. The maize chromosome research focuses on how chromosome move and how the physical structure of chromosomes relates to maps and DNA sequences. Another area of interest to the group is finding ways to link basic research to applied uses including utilizing genomic data to breed improved plants.
