Charles Drewes Memorial Scholarship
Purpose: Annual scholarship for an undergraduate or graduate student actively pursuing secondary education licensure in biology.
Eligibility: Undergraduate in the Biology Program that is currently enrolled in C I 419/C I 468K.
Nature of Award: $750 for academic year 2010-2011
Number of Awards: 2
Criteria:
Students beginning the ISU Masters of the Arts in Teaching Program in May 2010, intending to receive a teaching license in biology secondary education.
Darlene and Melvin Larsen Genetics, Development and Cell Biology Scholarship
Purpose: to reward academic achievement.
Eligibility: Undergraduate majoring in genetics, development, and cell biology (all majors supported by GDCB)
Nature of Award: $1,000 award per year for a maximum of four years
Criteria:
Student with 3.0 GPA or higher. Preference given to students with demonstrated leadership skills. Preference given to students with financial need
Diane Marie Heimbuch Scholarship
Purpose: to reward academic achievement.
Eligibility: Student must be a sophomore in standing. Zoology, Biology and Genetics majors may apply, but preference is given to Zoology students
Nature of Award: $1,000 award per year for a maximum of three years
Criteria: Minimum 3.0 GPA. Registered full time. Iowa resident. Preference given to those who have received this scholarship in the past
Scholarship in Ecology, Evolutionary and Environmental Biology
Purpose: Annual scholarship for an undergraduate student actively pursuing his or her education and who shows promise for going on to graduate study in ecology, evolutionary or environmental biology.
Eligibility: Junior or Senior class standing in a major administered by the EEOB dept. (Biology and Genetics).
Nature of Award:
$400 for academic year 2010-2011
Criteria: Minimum ISU GPA of 3.0
Sophomore Success Scholarship
Purpose: Reward for academic success
Eligibility: Biology majors in 2nd year
Nature of Award: $1,000 for academic year
Number of Award: Minimum of one
Criteria: Minimum 3.0 GPA; at least 45 ISU credits, but no more than 89 total college credits; involvement in university activities
Sui Tong Chan Fung Fund Internship in the Department of Genetics, Development and Cell Biology
Purpose: Summer internships to provide opportunities for fulltime hands-on research experiences for ISU undergraduate students working in genetics research.
Eligibility: Open to all majors in the GDCB Department.
Nature of Award: Eight-week internship with stipend of $3,500
Criteria: Participants are expected to work 40 hours per week and enrollment in summer courses is discouraged.

Sui Tong Chan Fung Fund for the Promotion of Study and Research in Genetics - Incoming Freshmen Scholarship
Purpose: Automatic scholarship provided to high level students recruited into genetics major
Eligibility: Incoming freshmen in genetics major are automatically considered for this scholarship. Transfer students are not eligible
Nature of award: The scholarship is for $1000 per year, continuous for four years, totaling $4,000. Student receives $500 per semester as long as GPA and major are maintained.
Number of awards: minimum of one
Criteria: Incoming freshmen in Genetics are considered for this scholarship. Transfer students are not eligible. Recipients will be chosen using available data, such as ACT/SAT scores, high school GPA, class rank, etc. This is not a need-based scholarship. It is in the students' best interest to provide as much data as possible when applying to ISU. Incoming freshmen students may be asked to proved a short paragraph explaining why they chose Genetics as a major. Notification by e-mail.
Sui Tong Chan Fung Fund for the Promotion of Study and Research in Genetics - Highest GPA Award
Purpose: to reward high GPA
Eligibility: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior
Nature of Award: One (1) $250 award each to a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior with highest GPA.
Criteria: Highest GPA's at the end of fall and spring semesters. No application is necessary.

All Majors
This scholarship is available to entering freshmen who wish to study any major offered at Iowa State University. Students must have faced challenges of personal and/or financial hardship.
Scholarships are available to full-time (12 hours or more) students who will be starting their junior year in the fall semester of the award year. The program centers on providing substantial scholarships to students who struggle to overcome significant social and economic obstacles in the pursuit of their education or who may be living in circumstances that may not normally be taken into account by other financial aid programs.
