GDCB Seminar: 'Molecular and cellular aspects of gene regulation through coarse grained computer simulations'
Speaker: Davit Potoyan, Caldwell Assistant Professor of Theoretical Chemistry in the Iowa State University Department of Chemistry
Title: Molecular and cellular aspects of gene regulation through coarse grained computer simulations
Abstract: In this talk, I will describe our latest efforts in studying gene regulation by using multi-scale computational techniques. In the first half of the talk, I will present the results of recently concluded study on transcription factor-DNA association/dissociation on the example of NF-kB. Results from coarse grained molecular dynamics and kinetic Monte Carlo simulations will be presnted to demonstrate some general systems level regulatory principles and molecular mechanisms of TF-DNA assembly/disassembly. In the second half of the seminar, if time permits, I will talk about our current research efforts in the area of systems biology of gene regulation and nuclear organization.
