Canceled: GDCB Seminar — 'Illuminating clocks and calendars in plants'
Speaker: Joshua Gendron, associate professor in molecular, cellular and developmental biology at Yale University
Title: "Illuminating clocks and calendars in plants"
Abstract: Plants have exquisite biological mechanisms for telling time of day and time of year. These mechanisms allow the plant to predict biotic and abiotic stresses and then be proactive in implementing developmental changes that preempt daily and seasonal stresses. I will talk about how my laboratory implemented a large scale reverse genetic screen to find new regulators of the daily clock in plants and how in turn this led us to new understanding of the yearly calendar in plants. I will briefly talk about how this work is pertinent in the context of climate change.
Host: Joe Aung, GDCB assistant professor
