Title: Lumen morphogenesis during left-right and vascular development in zebrafish

Abstract: My talk will focus on two stories about lumen morphogenesis during zebrafish development. First, I will describe our recent efforts to understand the role of connexin genes in lumen formation during Kupffer’s vesicle (KV) formation. We have previously identified a requirement for Connexin43.4 (Cx43.4) during left-right development. This role is integral to the morphogenesis of KV. Current work examines new mutations in Cx43.4 to define its mechanism during this process. Second, I will detail some of our recent work to understand lumen formation during vascular development.
