GDCB Seminar: Single-cell resolution of plant response to bacterial infection
Speaker: Gitta Coaker, University of California, Davis, professor in the Department of Plant Pathology
Title: "Single-cell resolution of plant response to bacterial infection"
Abstract: Plants can be infected by all pathogen classes, resulting in substantial losses for both pre- and post-harvest diseases. Research in the Coaker laboratory focuses on the host targets of secreted pathogen proteins as well as perception of pathogens by plant immune receptors. We study a variety of bacterial pathogens that colonize the plant xylem, phloem, and extracellular space. This seminar will focus on two research projects: (1) dissection of the plant response to bacterial infection using single cell RNA sequencing and cellular imaging and (2) the interaction between bacterial phloem-limited pathogens and their plant hosts.
