Title: Expand your horizons with popular science books
Abstract: Joanne Manaster is a senior faculty instructor for the School of Integrative Biology at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is active in new media with a healthy social media following. Her @sciencegoddess twitter account has been named by Mashable as "One of 25 Twitter Accounts that Will Make You Smarter.". There, she shares interesting science as well as some of the latest popular science books. She is a former blogger with Scientific American and is a co-host of a regular Google Hangout on Air/YouTube Live show called "Read Science!" where she interviews science authors about how they communicate science to the general public.
