MCDB elects McGrail as program chair/DOGE

GDCB Associate Professor Maura McGrailThe Interdepartmental Graduate Program of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology unanimously elected Dr. Maura McGrail, associate professor of genetics, development and cell biology, as its program chair/DOGE (director of graduate education). McGrail's two-year term started July 1. 

The focus of McGrail's research "is to investigate the genetic pathways that contribute to brain tumor onset and progression using the zebrafish model system." 

McGrail received her bachelor of science in biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology from the University of Minnesota. She did postdoctoral work at the University of California-San Diego, Myriad Genetics in Salt Lake City, and the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah.
