Dr. Lois Girton and Denise Hix to receive LAS awards

Dr. Lois Girton, undergraduate academic adviser for biology and genetics, and Denise Hix, undergraduate academic adviser for biology, were each recognized with advising awards by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) for their outstanding achievement as academic advisers.

Dr. Girton received the LAS Award for Early Achievement in Academic Advising. This award is to recognize ISU faculty or staff who have demonstrated outstanding performance in advising undergraduate students early in their professional careers.

Denise Hix received the Learning Community Leadership Award for her leadership of the B.E.S.T. biology learning community. This award is to recognize faculty and staff members for outstanding coordination and leadership of a learning community in LAS.

Each year, LAS celebrates the outstanding accomplishments of its faculty and staff. Denise and Lois will be recognized for their awards at the LAS College’s Fall Convocation to be held this fall semester on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 4:00 pm in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union.
