Dr. Michael Muszynski, GDCB Adjunct Assistant Professor, has been awarded $15,000 from the USDA-Agriculture Research Services (ARS) for his project entitled, “Development of functional molecular markers for the Ga1 locus.” The objective of this research is to develop functional markers for all known alleles at the GA1 locus in corn and to design a robust phenotyping strategy that will allow development of desired varieties of corn that will prevent it from being pollinated by unwanted pollen.
