GDCB Professors Philip Becraft and Thomas Peterson edit new books on plant science

Becraft and Peterson book coversTwo GDCB faculty, Philip Becraft, Professor, and Thomas Peterson, Professor and Pioneer Chair in Maize Molecular Genetics, each edited a book this year about plant science.

The new book “Seed Genomics,” edited by Professor Philip Becraft, is an up-to-date review of seed genomics, from basic seed biology to practical applications in crop science and provides a thorough background understanding of seed biology from a basic science perspective. “Seed Genomics” brings together top researchers in the field to cover three general themes: genomic approaches to studying seeds, genomic analysis of basic seed biology, and crop seed genomics.  It is a valuable resource for advanced graduate students, post-docs, researchers and professionals in the Plant and Crop Sciences.  More information about this book can be found at the Wiley Publishing website.

Professor Thomas Peterson edited the book entitled, “Plant Transposable Elements: Methods and Protocols,” published by Springer.  This book is authoritative and practical, edited both for the plant sciences professional and the practitioner.  “Plant Transposable Elements: Methods and Protocols” seeks to aid scientists in the further study of transposons by providing essential background information and specific experimental protocols.  More information about Prof. Peterson’s book can be found at the Springer website.
