Two professors in GDCB, Dr. Steve Howell and Dr. Carolyn Lawrence, are Co-Pi’s on a National Science Foundation (NSF) sponsored grant of $929,773 awarded to several ISU faculty to develop a plant-growth facility at ISU. The new facility will utilize a specially designed robot to gather unprecedented amounts of data on the growth of plants under different environmental conditions. The ISU team is calling the concept the Enviratron. “The Enviratron won’t move the plants for screening, an important feature that will allow researchers to gather more reliable data,” said Dr. Howell.
