Genetics Learning Community students volunteer for Cystic Fibrosis fundraising event

Ten first-year undergraduate students and peer mentors in the Genetics: The Secret of Life learning community assisted in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) – Iowa Chapter’s fundraising event on November 7, 2014 at Des Moines University.  The event set a new record raising $112,360 in funds to go towards critical research for cystic fibrosis, a life-threatening genetic disease.  Such funding has led to the development of drugs to alter abnormal forms of the CFTR protein.  This is the fifth year ISU Genetics Learning Community students have participated.
