Professor Erik Vollbrecht named recipient of the 2014 CALS Mid-Career Achievement in Research Award

Professor Erik Vollbrecht, associate professor in GDCB, has been named the recipient of the 2014 CALS Mid-Career Achievement in Research Award. The Mid-Career Achievement Award recognizes mid-career faculty members in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) who are or have great potential of becoming outstanding leaders in their areas of research/creative activity.
Professor Vollbrecht ’s research interests include understanding molecular mechanisms of plant development and their evolution, and developing genomics tools to advance that goal. GDCB Professor and Chair Jo Anne Powell-Coffman noted, “Erik is a rising star in the field of maize genetics. In the Department, we’re very pleased that Erik’s leadership and accomplishments have been recognized by this award.”
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Spring Awards Program, Honoring “Best in the College” Faculty and Staff Achievements (formerly Spring Convocation) is scheduled for Wednesday, March 12 at 4:10 p.m. in the South Ballroom at the Memorial Union. A reception will follow.
