The GDCB research team led by Professor Ling Li and Professor Eve Wurtele has demonstrated that the QQS gene regulates the protein content in Arabidopsis seeds and leaves can increase protein content when introduced into staple crops, such as rice, corn, and soybeans. This study was published this week in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. The research may have implications for agriculture in developing countries.  View ISU news release to learn more.
