Cyclone Hockey Hall of Fame inducts alumnus

Daniel Bullard, a 1986 Iowa State University graduate of the former zoology and genetics undergraduate major, was one of five inductees honored during the 2017 Cyclone Hockey Hall of Fame/Alumni Weekend. Bullard and the others were honored on Oct. 7 at the Hall of Fame Induction Banquet, which was held at Jethro’s Banquet Center.
While at ISU, Bullard was the recipient of the Cyclone Hockey’s Most Outstanding Forward Award for the 1983-84 season and the Sportsmanship Award in 1984-85. He also earned the Academic Achievement Award for both the 1984-85 and 1985-86 season.
After earning his bachelor’s degree from ISU, Bullard received his Ph.D. in genetics from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He participated in postdoctoral studies at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. While at Baylor, his research focused on the role of leukocyte/endothelial cell adhesion molecules in the inflammation process.
He joined the University of Alabama-Birmingham’s Department of Genetics in 1996. Since joining UA-Birmingham, he has conducted research on inflammation and skin diseases.
