An article written by the Iowa State University News Service about a device built by Professor Eric Henderson and Associate Professor Mike McCloskey, both of genetics, development and cell biology, and Curtis Mosher, ISU associate scientist, was featured in the 2017 Year in Review. The device mimics the branches and leaves of a cottonwood tree and generates electricity when its artificial leaves sway in the wind.
