University Professor Harry T. (Jack) Horner was recognized for his contributions at the College of Design Awards Day, which was held in the spring. A genetics, development and cell biology faculty member, Horner was recognized as the founder of the biological and premedical illustration (BPMI) major and for his “more than 40 years of dedication and heart to BPMI.”

Horner was presented with a framed print for his service by Kim Moss, BPMI program coordinator and assistant professor of art and visual culture, and Lynn Clark, BPMI program director and professor of ecology, evolution and organismal biology (EEOB).

The framed print was the result of several contributors, including BPMI faculty and students.

Among those attending the event was College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) Associate Dean for Academic Programs Amy Slagell. Slagell said to Horner, “Thank you for your leadership and vision. ISU and our students are much richer for it.”

After almost 52 years of service, Horner will be retiring from ISU on June 30.

BPMI, an interdepartmental undergraduate major, is housed in the College of LAS and is a shared program of the College of LAS and the College of Design.
