Manz participates in ISU's first Cardinal Women

Carly ManzDr. Carly Manz, lecturer in genetics, development and cell biology, was one of 72 women who participated in the 2018 Iowa State University Cardinal Women. Cardinal Women is a personal and professional leadership development program specifically for women who are faculty and professional and scientific staff at ISU.

The women and eight small group leaders engaged in four two-hour face-to-face sessions in the fall. Topics covered included identifying and silencing the inner critic, discovering and utilizing your inner mentor, approaches to negotiation and others.

About the program, Manz said, “I found it to be a very valuable program. It was a great opportunity to meet women across ISU and share our different experiences and build a support network. Each session, we discussed common strategies on how to develop in our professional lives. I think it was quite helpful.”

The program was developed and led by Tera Lawson, Center for Technology in Learning and Teaching, and Dr. Denise Williams-Klotz, Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.
