Ashley Paulsen, a graduate student in Interdepartmental Genetics and Genomics, is the recipient of a 2018-19 NASA Iowa Space Grant Consortium Fellowship.

Her research focuses on hydrogel based transparent soils and programmable ecosystems for the study of root phenotypes and plant biotic interactions. Her faculty advisor is Ludovico Cademartiri, Department of Materials Science and Engineering assistant professor. She received a $2,500 award.
