The research of Steve Howell, Distinguished Professor of the Department of Genetics, Development and Cell Biology, and additional Iowa State University (ISU) scientists shows how two seemingly unrelated responses in corn plants interact to help the crop survive heat stress.
Data was gathered for the study through Enviratron. The Enviratron is "a highly controlled and automated facility at Iowa State." It is equipped with a robotic rover and growth chambers. The study was published in the academic journal, The Plant Cell.
