Connective Tissue: Educating the next generation of researchers

Undergraduate researcher in lab
Morrill Professor Don Sakaguchi of genetics, development and cell biology welcomed more than 200 undergraduate student researchers since 1991 in his research projects.

Morrill Professor Don Sakaguchi of genetics, development and cell biology, discusses the importance of undergraduate research in the Iowa State University Foundation's Forward magazine article, "Connective tissue: Educating the next generation of researchers."

In the article, Sakaguchi said, “The undergraduates involved in research at Iowa State contribute to the new knowledge that is generated in every department, whether it’s English, physics, biology, or engineering. It’s important for students to be able to gain a much deeper understanding of the scientific enterprise."
