Recently, Alpha Lambda Delta & Phi Eta Sigma first-year honor societies asked new inductees to share which instructor at ISU had influenced them during their first year, and how this individual had shaped their academic experience. Denise Williams, adviser to the honor society, shared part of the comments of one inductee about Karin Dorman, professor of GDCB and Statistics:

“Karin Dorman has showed me the connection between technology and science. I am so honored to have been chosen by her to help in this agent based model simulation, because this is something I will mostly likely be doing in the future¦She has really inspired me to keep doing projects like this, projects that allow me to work with new people in completely different departments with different ideas and ways of thinking… Working with Karin has also reinforced what I have wanted to do. I have always loved science, math, and technology, but I never knew how to combine those until I started working on this project. I owe a lot to Karin. She has really helped me understand and experiencing things I never would have in a biology lecture or lab.”

We are proud and honored to have faculty like Professor Dorman in our department.
