Yin, plant scientists explore balance between plant growth, drought response in new article

Several trials of Arabidopsis plants illustrate how knocking out WRKY genes leads to changes in growth rates and drought response.

Yanhai Yin and his colleagues recently published an article on stress response and growth in plants in the peer-reviewed academic journal, The Plant Cell. Yin is a professor in the Department of Genetics, Development and Cell Biology and a Plant Sciences Institute Faculty Scholar.

Yin's research and The Plant Cell article ("Arabidopsis WRKY46, WRKY54, and WRKY70 Transcription Factors Are Involved in Brassinosteroid-Regulated Plant Growth and Drought Responses") are the focus of a recent Iowa State University News Service release.

Among those contributing to The Plant Cell article were current GDCB graduate assistants from Yin's lab, Jiani Chen and Trevor Nolan.
